A New Hospital Rehabilitation Project for Mapco
Trusted partner of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector, Mapco has been entrusted the electromechanical works for the rehabilitation of the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City.
In line with its 47 years of construction experience, Mapco LLC was recently awarded the electromechanical works for the rehabilitation of Wing F of the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC). It is the first out of eight stages which will complete the refurbishment of the entire medical city on a fast-track basis.

In 2018, Mapco successfully completed the electromechanical works for the new Dar Al Shifaa Hospital in Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi.
This new project, which includes the complete rehabilitation of the ground, first and second floors of Wing F of the hospital, consists of the upgrade and replacement of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), electrical and extra-low voltage systems (ELV), building management systems (BMS), plumbing systems and nurse call systems.
Al Mazroui Group’s electromechanical arm provided a team of specialist engineers, draughtsmen and technicians. They are dedicated exclusively to the project, working around the clock, in order to turn SKMC into a state-of-the-art medical facility of the future.
Reviving a Major Medical Facility
SKMC is located in the city of Abu Dhabi and operates under the management of Cleveland Clinic. It is owned by SEHA, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, which oversees operations of all public hospitals in the emirate. Flagship facility for the public health system in the capital, SKMC has been compared to the best hospitals and medical centres in the world.
The capital’s medical city provides comprehensive healthcare services in all of the disciplines relevant to the needs and priorities of the community to attain the highest levels of patient satisfaction. Largest hospital and medical city in the UAE, SKMC consists of a 586-bed tertiary hospital, 14 outpatient speciality clinics and the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, all of which are accredited by the Joint Commission International. The medical city is also accredited as a Cycle IV chest pain centre with primary angioplasty intervention and by the College of American Pathologists. In addition, SKMC manages a 125-bed behavioural sciences pavilion and an urgent care centre.
By being an early participant, during the first phase of this rehabilitation works, Mapco is privileged with a unique opportunity. Proving its technical competencies early in the game will hopefully allow the company to participate in the remaining phases of the project.
