COVID-19: Travel Again, Travel Safely

Sep 2020 | Al Mazroui
The coronavirus pandemic has transformed the world as we knew it and traveling is no exception. However, step by step, routes are reopening. It is now possible to fly from the UAE to several destinations in Europe, Australia, Asia and America.

If you wish to travel soon, have a look at the following guidance realised in partnership with MICCO Travel, a company of the Al Mazroui Group.

Leaving the UAE

As regulations to fight the coronavirus pandemic have been implemented all over the world, it is now possible to travel again. Airlines have also taken precautions to assure the safety of their passengers with measures such as frequent on-board disinfection and protective attires for their crew members. As part of this global effort, several countries, especially in Europe, ask travellers to take a COVID-19 PCR test before flying, which means more in-flight safety.

Since the travel regulations in each destination are changing frequently, we advise you to check the specific requirements for your destination with your travel agent. To be allowed to board, travellers are required to come to the airport with the appropriate travel documents for their destination. To give you an idea, the IATA Travel Centre has prepared a COVID-19 Travel Regulations Map that is regularly updated. You can check it here.

On Board

Once you've reached the airport, to ensure your safety and that of others, you will have to wear your mask at all times. After check-in and boarding, you will still need to keep your mask on for the duration of the flight, except when eating or drinking. Cabin baggage are not allowed on Etihad Airways but can be checked in for free. With Emirates, carrying a cabin baggage is authorised again.

Both companies provide their guests with complimentary hygiene kits including a mask, gloves and hand sanitiser. Moreover, both companies’ aircraft are equipped with HEPA air filters which capture 99% of airborne microbes.

Free COVID-19 cover

If you are diagnosed with COVID-19 while you’re away from home, Etihad Airways and Emirates will cover your medical expenses and your quarantine.
