Herend Goes Virtual to Launch its 2021 Collection

Jun 2021 | almazroui
Adapting to the new normal, Herend has launched its 2021 collection digitally. Anyone can admire the manufactory’s novelties anywhere, anytime, via a virtual 3D tour.

Herend is annually present at Frankfurt’s Ambiente international fair where the brand usually launches its new collection. Due to the pandemic and the associated international travel restrictions, the organisers of the fair decided not to hold the 2021 edition in February, but to offer the consumer goods industry a digital format in April. Innovative and creative, the Herend Porcelain Manufactory opted for digitalisation as well, offering all its fans around the world a very lifelike virtual tour of its Porcelain Palace in Budapest, where all the 2021 novelties are showcased. Herend UAE, a member of the Al Mazroui Group, is also promoting the new collection locally on its Instagram page.

The Porcelain Palace as if You Were There

Herend created an online replica of its flagship boutique in Budapest offering a 36https://herend.com/herend-virtual-tour0 virtual tour, with the possibility for those with the right equipment to opt for virtual reality. Exploring the Porcelain Palace is made easy by circles drawn on the floor. A click suffices to go from one place to another and to browse the shop as if you were there.

All the elements of the new collection have been marked by white circles with blue rims. These circles are links to external pages which provide you descriptions of the new Herend products: number of pieces, dimensions and the stories behind the masterpieces. This 3D tour is also the occasion to explore the whole boutique at your own pace and admire all the beautiful Herend creations on the numerous shelves. Like an instant trip to Budapest, this digital visit offers a complete change of scene in just a few clicks.

A New Collection Between Tradition & Innovation

The manufactory’s goal is to shape the porcelain of the future whilst staying grounded in its two centuries of expertise. Herend starts working with its product development design team years before new creations are born. For months, they analyse colours and design objects to find the harmony of forms and patterns which will suit the lifestyle of the next generations.

Symbol of everlasting elegance, Herend is constantly innovating and reinventing itself. It is no surprise that this year, the mythological phoenix, figure of renewal and resurrection, has been honoured with a series of masterpieces, such as wall plates and vases. The most impressive piece of this line is a porcelain bird almost 1.5 metres high, weighing about 200 kilograms. The Herend artists have also used their skills to create 15 large hand-painted wall plates, with a diameter of 62 cm and honour flora and fauna. Amongst new tea and breakfast sets, a brand-new line has been introduced in Herend’s tableware collection this year: a caviar set in four different patterns. The brand’s lovers will also be happy to discover a new version of the famous Apponyi pattern and a blue rework of the iconic Queen Victoria pattern intertwined with Herend’s famous fish scales.

To be discovered online, the 2021 novelties address the senses, play with colours and shapes, rework classic values and well-known patterns, whilst looking to the future.

With its hand-made art, unique style features and generations of expertise, this world-leading porcelain manufactory sends a message of hope and resilience for the future. Tradition and innovation go hand in hand at the Hungarian manufactory and there is no occasion, age, style or home that a tasteful, handmade Herend porcelain set wouldn’t go with.
